The Occult Roots of

The Rapture Cult – Part VI

 

 

 

 

 

In our last installment of the Culting of Christianity, we showed how the Occult Egyptian writings describing Seth as the Saviour, repeatedly allude to a pre-tribulation Rapture. They also state those rescued by Seth's angels will not die, but they shall be taken away:

 

"Afterward great angels will come on high clouds to bring those men to the place where the spirit of life dwells….there come from heaven to earth. [But] the whole [multitude] of flesh will be left behind…. (The Apocalypse of Adam, Charlesworth edition, and The Nag Hammadi Library in English, James Robinson, Editor, emphasis mine).

 

It's very revealing to recognize how the actual phrase left behind never appears in the New Testament, but looms large in the Rapture Cult, as well as the Satanic writings extolling the deity of the Egyptian Saviour. Another section of the same writing also details the rescue of the Sethians from the fiery trial:

 

"And great clouds of light will come down and other clouds of light will descend on them from the great aeons. Abrasax and Sablo and Gamaliel will come down to take those men out of the fire and the wrath and bring them above the aeons and the rulers of the powers and take them away" (Apocalypse of Adam, ibid, Chapter 5, The Fire, emphasis mine).

 

The accompanying Sethian document The Gospel Of The Egyptians flatly states those Raptured by "Seth" will be taken to the Occult version of heaven (called the "Pleroma" or the "Aeons" in the Gnostic writings).

 

 "These will by no means taste death" (G/E, Nag Hammadi Library).

 

The scholars familiar with the dark writings found in the excavations at Nag Hammadi in Egypt universally see the connection between The Apocalypse of Adam with its pre-tribulational Rapture, and the supernatural protection of the Sethian race in the Gospel of the Egyptians: 

 

"The threat of the flood and the fire to the race of Seth are described in detail in The Apocalypse of Adam. While in the Apocalyse of Adam the race of Seth is removed by angels, in The Gospel Of The Egyptians there are only hints of this such as the report that "guardians" will guard them" (Nag Hammadi Codices, page 34, emphasis mine).

 

Not surprisingly, elements of the Sethian Gnostic documents which feature the Rapture, show up in the pseudepigraphical "Christian" materials, a solid indication of either a direct influence from the Gnostics, a reliance upon a common source or, as we shall see, the synthesis resulting from the collision of pseudephigrapha and Scripture.

 

Besides the obvious similarity of a great "conflagration" encompassing a showdown of sorts between those chosen by the Rapture Cult version of the LORD, and those who are destined to be given over to the evil power, certain other details show an obvious parallel. For instance, the "confusion" which is seen so frequently in Pseudo Ephraem, is also found in the pre-tribulational Rapture of followers rescued by "Seth."

 

In the Second Treatise of the Great Seth, another ancient Occult document dated very early in the Christian era, we find the devilish idea noted in Part V, wherein "Seth" supposedly took on the form of Jesus Christ, to rescue the Sethian race, amidst a great confusion:

 

"There was a great disturbance in the whole earthly area with confusion and flight, as well as (in) the plan of the archons" (The Second Treatise Of The Great Seth, Nag Hammadi Library, page 364).

 

Once again, the "archons" are angels, and in this writing "Seth/Jesus" opposes the "confusion" which the evil ones generate against his chosen ones:

 

"And everything pertaining to them was brought about because of me. And there came about a disturbance, and a fight around the Seraphim and Cherubim, since their glory will fade, and the confusion around Adonaios…" (ibid, page 365).

 

Compare this with the confusion which the Rapture Cult tells us about in the Christian writing known as Pseudo Ephraem – the document so widely quoted by modern day Rapturist Christian false prophets.  

 

"Why therefore do we not reject every care of earthly actions and prepare ourselves for the meeting of the Lord Christ, so that He may draw us from the confusion which overwhelms the world?" (Section 2, Pseudo-Ephraem, or P/E).

 

In reality, the link between the "Christian" father Ephraem the Syrian, so frequently cited by the false prophets of the Rapture Cult, and the Occult writings found at Nag Hammadi in Egypt, are plentiful. Incidentally, the aforementioned Sethian tract, The Second Treatise of the Great Seth, also has "Jesus" saying the following:

 

"I did not succumb to them as they had planned. But I was not afflicted at all. Those who were there punished me. And I did not die in reality, but in appearance, lest I be put to shame by them because these are my kinsfolk" (Second Treatise, page 365).

 

Obviously demonic, the Spirit behind the "Sethian" words, posing as Jesus, has just told us He didn't really die on the cross, it only looked that way. Once again, this is the same presence in the Occult writings which has introduced a pre-tribulation Rapture.

 

References to the confusion which the Rapture Cult equivocates with the tribulation are widespread, as evidenced by the following from Pseudo Ephraem, the "Christian" writer cited by Rapture Cult teachers everywhere:

 

"Then that worthless and abominable dragon shall appear…And he leaps out from Basan. Basan certainly is interpreted confusion. He shall rise up from the confusion of his iniquity. The one who gathers together to himself a partridge the children of confusion…Also in the last day they shall relinquish him just as confused" (On The Last Times, Section V, P/E).

 

As this confusion increases, Psuedo Ephraem introduces more details to the same false doctrine which has become so familiar in our time through the machinations of the Rapture Cult:

 

"Confusion will be on the earth and all human powers will be paralyzed, For the Evil One will be ready. He will come to and enter Jerusalem. He will rebuild and establish himself in Zion, and will make himself to be God and enter into the sanctuary to take a seat in accordance with what the Apostle wrote to us" (Syriac P/E).

 

Similarly, the confusion which is so prevalent in the Occult documents linked to PreTrib, is also rendered as a chaos which will engulf the race that "Seth" comes to Rapture:

 

"And there appeared a cloud whose name is hylic Sophia…She looked out on the parts of the chaos…And the great angel Gamaliel spoke to the great Gabriel, the minister of the great light Oroial; he said let an angel come forth in order that he may reign over the chaos…." (G/Egypt, Nag Hammadi Codices page 120, emphasis mine).

 

Thus, the signature verse supposedly putting forth a Pre Tribulational Rapture of the Christians in Pseudo Ephraem, also makes reference to the confusion.

 

"For all the saints and elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins" (Pseudo Ephraem, On The Last Times).
